As we move through 2025, let’s highlight what our engineering team accomplished in January. They’ve been hard at work enhancing the Gun.io platform to create better experiences for both our talented developers and companies looking to build exceptional teams.

What’s New This Month

Schedule Call Gate: Streamlining the Hiring Process

We’ve introduced a new scheduling system that makes connecting talent with opportunities more efficient. The update includes smart call prompts, talent examples during discovery, and a streamlined booking process. This means faster, more meaningful connections between developers and companies right from the start.

Profile Filtering Enhancement

Our matching system got smarter with refined profile filtering capabilities. We’ve implemented more nuanced checks for talent eligibility and added the flexibility to adjust requirements based on project experience. For our clients, this means higher quality matches and less time spent reviewing mismatched profiles.

Rate Transparency and Improvements

We’ve made significant updates to how rates are displayed and managed across the platform. From clearer hourly and monthly rate displays to improved rate visibility in job matches, we’re ensuring everyone has the information they need to make informed decisions.

Infrastructure and Experience Updates

We’ve enhanced our platform’s foundation with several key improvements. Our backend navigation system has been updated for 2025, making it easier to find what we need. We’ve also enhanced our reporting with five new breakout views and increased our Metabase database capacity for better analytics performance. Additionally, we’ve resolved several critical bugs in interview scheduling and talent applications to ensure a smoother experience for everyone.

Developer Experience Improvements

The developer experience remains a top priority. We’ve introduced new toggle components for better interface interactions, enhanced our worklogs functionality, and improved our compensation calculation methods. Small but meaningful changes like left-aligned mission titles make the platform more intuitive and user-friendly.

Looking Ahead

We’re continuing to focus on making Gun.io the most trusted platform for hiring senior developers. Our upcoming work includes further refinements to our talent matching algorithms, new features for talent showcase and discovery, continued platform stability improvements, and enhanced observability with Sentry integration.

Join Us on This Journey

Every improvement we make is inspired by feedback from our community – both the talented developers who trust us with their careers and the companies building their future with us. We’re excited about the foundation we’ve laid in January and can’t wait to build upon it.
